Partial shipments and backorders
Ship what you have now and the rest when it arrives. Each shipment issues its stock and has a delivery note; what's left stays on the order as a backorder, and stock that arrives goes to the oldest waiting orders first.
Requires Inventory. Partial shipments and backorders is an add-on to Inventory: it works only while Inventory is on for your organization, and turns off with it. Ask CRMSix support to turn both on.
Ship an order
- Activate the order. Its tracked products are reserved, as much as is in stock.
- On the order’s Stock card, choose Ship. Each line shows what’s left to ship and what’s ready now; enter what goes in this shipment.
- Add the date, carrier and tracking number, and choose Ship. The stock is issued: what’s reserved for the order first, then free stock (the batch that expires first, with Batches and expiry).
- Choose Delivery note to print or send it: the customer, the shipping address, each product with its code, quantity and batches, and a place to sign.
- Repeat with Ship more. When every line has shipped, the order is Fulfilled.
Marking an order Fulfilled by hand ships everything left as one last shipment (refused if there isn’t enough stock). Choose Mark delivered on a shipment when it arrives. Services and untracked products ship without touching stock.
Cancelling a shipment
Cancel shipment puts its stock back, in the same warehouses and batches, and reserves it for the order again. A fulfilled order goes back to Activated. An order with shipments can’t go back to Draft: cancel its shipments first, or cancel the order (what’s shipped stays shipped).
Backorders
A line is backordered when part of it is still to ship and no stock is reserved for that part. Inventory → Shipments → Backorders lists them, oldest order first, with what’s on order and when the first delivery is expected.
Whenever stock arrives (a receipt, a purchase order delivery, an adjustment, a transfer, stock released from quarantine, a cancelled shipment), it’s reserved for waiting orders automatically, the oldest activated order first. Ship them as the stock lands.
All shipments
The Shipments tab lists shipments from the last 90 days, those on the way, delivered or cancelled, with links to their orders and delivery notes.
