Zapier

Zapier connects CRMSix to thousands of other apps, such as Google Sheets, Slack, Facebook Lead Ads and Typeform. CRMSix tells Zapier when something happens with a workflow rule’s webhook, and Zapier creates or changes CRMSix records through the REST API.

What you need

  • A paid Zapier plan, because these Zaps use Webhooks by Zapier, one of Zapier’s premium apps.
  • The Professional or Enterprise plan in CRMSix, which include webhooks from workflow rules and API keys.
  • An admin to set up the workflow rule and the API key.

When something happens in CRMSix (a trigger)

For example: a new lead in CRMSix adds a row to Google Sheets and posts in Slack.

  1. In Zapier, create a Zap with the trigger Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook, and copy the URL Zapier gives you (it starts with https://hooks.zapier.com/).
  2. In CRMSix, go to Settings → Workflow Rules and create a rule on the object you want, for example Leads, that runs when a record is created (or created and edited). Add criteria if only some records should go, such as Lead Source = Web.
  3. Add the action Call webhook, paste the Zapier URL, and save. See Workflow rules.
  4. Create a test record in CRMSix, then choose Test trigger in Zapier. The record’s fields appear, ready to use in the next steps of your Zap.

Each request is signed with the rule’s secret in the x-scl-signature header. Zapier doesn’t check it; your own systems can.

When something happens elsewhere (an action)

For example: a Facebook Lead Ad or a Typeform answer creates a lead in CRMSix.

  1. In CRMSix, go to Settings → API Keys and create a key. Choose the user it runs as, and copy the key, which starts with scl_. See API Keys.
  2. In Zapier, add the action Webhooks by Zapier → POST.
  3. Set the URL to your CRMSix address followed by the object, for example https://my.crmsix.com/api/leads (or /api/contacts, /api/cases…), and the Payload type to JSON.
  4. Under Data, map fields from the trigger, such as firstName, lastName, company, email, phone and source.
  5. Under Headers, add X-API-Key with your key. Test the step, and the record appears in CRMSix.
ToUse
Create a recordPOST /api/leads (or another object)
Update a recordCustom Request with method PATCH to /api/leads/<ID>
Find a record firstGET /api/leads?q=name@example.com, then use its ID

Every object’s fields and endpoints are in the API reference at crmsix.com/apidoc.

Tips

  • Give the API key a user with only the access the Zap needs, or make it read-only when the Zap only reads.
  • Calls from Zapier count toward your plan’s API limits.
  • Keep the key in Zapier only. If it’s exposed, delete it in Settings → API Keys and create a new one.
